About SourceVault

🚀 Our Mission

SourceVault is building the future of code collaboration—one that's open, decentralized, and developer-owned.

We believe developers should have complete control over their code, their data, and their development workflow. No vendor lock-in. No surprises. Just pure, open-source collaboration.

🌐 What is Federation?

Federation means you can host your own SourceVault instance while still connecting with developers across the entire network. Think of it like email—you can have your own server, but still send messages to anyone else.

Using the ActivityPub protocol, SourceVault instances can:

  • Discover and follow developers on other instances
  • Fork repositories across instances
  • Collaborate on issues and pull requests without centralizing data
  • Maintain full sovereignty while staying connected

💡 Why SourceVault?

Current code hosting platforms are centralized, proprietary, and can change their terms at any time. Your code, your issues, your entire development history—all locked into a single provider.

SourceVault changes that. Self-host your instance, own your data, and still collaborate with the entire developer community through federation. It's the best of both worlds.

👨‍💻 The Developer

SourceVault is being built by a solo developer passionate about open source, decentralization, and giving developers back control of their tools.

This is an open-source project, and contributions are welcome! Whether it's code, documentation, or just feedback—every bit helps.
